Advertising and Press
Events
Embedding
advertising in video games is an emerging marketing communications
channel. The
ad's can then be viewed in kiosks, on the Internet or at specially produced events, such
as trade shows and press events.
Case Study One: IBM's Netfinity branding was
inserted into a specially built Quake II map that was
used for a promotion based around the M50 server. The press were attracted by
the opportunity to play Quake II in a state-of-the-art environment (keep this
in mind when you are trying to attract computer industry journalists!).
While playing the game they saw on their computer screens the Netfinity
branding on virtual billboards. The PR agency which organized the event was
Brodeur Worldwide.
Case
Study Two: CSC,
via August One Communications, organized a press conference at our
venue. The objective was to allow CSC's consulting group to mix with the
press in a relaxed environment. With our upgraded Quake III Arena map we
were able to design a fun, group-oriented program. This included adding
the CSC logo for branding throughout the virtual environment.
Case
Study Three: We worked on an Internet promotion with Wireplay,
one of the UK's top gaming networks. They were interested in attracting
more gamers to their network and we organized a competition which tied in with
a number of the key organizations and networks including The
Savage Capture the Flag League, Gamespot
and ATI Technologies Inc.
Wireplay took our custom Quake II environment, which included their and
Gamespot's logos, and made it available on their servers. Several
hundred of the competitors downloaded the map in order to take part in the
competition.
Customised environments can be constructed to meet your exact
requirements. For example, we could build a Quake III Arena map of your client's
office block, or their technical center, and include in the environment
branding tailored to the event. The image to the right shows our logo
converted into a holographic image built into a custom environment. We
could do this for your corporate logo.
